As a child, most people have fond memories of growing up on their father's job. You always wanted to work for your dad, but he would always get angry at you when you asked him why he became an engineer. It seems like only a few years ago that this whole new thing is completely foreign to him, but it made sense to his brain.As you grow up, you can relate to your dad's work ethic and some of the things he did. He was a simple man, with no fancy gadgets, yet he knew how to fix things and work efficiently. Many engineers do the same thing, and if they're working together, they are efficient. You will find it is the other way around for those that don't work together.The reason that many people call work 'dirty' is because there are never enough hours to be able to put everything into two weeks at the beginning of every two-year p eriod of time and then take a week off. For many times engineering, it is all hands on deck. There are deadlines, schedules, customers, and production lines to get things done and there are problems that have to be worked out.In order to start a business, you need to know what that business is and how to run it. This doesn't just mean a few texts or some of the basics of running a business. You need to know how to handle money, planning, and business execution. Because of the nature of the jobs, there is no time to learn this.All of the successful people that have ever lived know this principle: the rich's wealth is built on the backs of the poor. Everyone that has had to struggle, especially during the financial crisis, know exactly what I am talking about. There are many people that find it difficult to come out of it, but they are not trying to learn about why I become an engineer. They are still working for the money that they were making and they do not care how they get it.It is your job to provide the motivation to others and to help them build their own success. Most people that have any skills in engineering start by reading about how to become an engineer. I was a physics major and knew nothing about engineering. If I had read books on the subject, I could have been an engineer. Most students can't find a real purpose to read books about things that interest them, so they have to use them as a crutch, but this is counterproductive.Every person's job is to make sure the people who work for them are getting the information that they need and that the employers are seeing the appropriate people. In order to keep this from happening, you have to understand why you should become an engineer. There are many books written about how to become an engineer, but you can't believe everything you read. To learn something that doesn't come from a textbook is useless.Becoming an engineer is the most powerful tool you have to help others. When you learn something, y ou can be productive for a long time. If you need to be pushed in a certain direction, your boss will push you, but you are also pushing yourself because you will be effective because you are already motivated to become an engineer.
